In only his early 30’s, David Aguilar has become one of Peru’s most prolific painters of still lifes and portraits. Born and raised in Lima, he feels that the city offers the best environment to nurture his artistic talents and so he remains there today.
David has had no formal art training, preferring instead to develop his abilities on his own. Fortunately, his efforts have resulted in the ability to support himself solely with his painting. He enjoys living close to the sea and often paints in the open air, arranging the objects for his studies to receive the best sunlight and shadowing. In his portraits, he seeks to capture the essence of the subject, making certain that the light from their soul shines through their eyes. He especially enjoys painting portraits of children.
